Columbus Panhandles

The Panhandles were a professional team based in Columbus, Ohio.  Founded in 1901 by workers at the Pan Handle shops of the Pennsylvania Railroad, they were originally part of the Ohio League.  In 1920 the Panhandles became charter members of the American Professional Football Association, and are credited with playing in the first NFL game against another NFL opponent  (the Dayton Triangles - October 3, 1920).
